Apparently "Neko Case" is Neko Case's real name. I always assumed it was some sort of nod to the Japanese word for "cat". You learn something everyday. This Virginia born songwriter also toured under the moniker "Neko Case & Her Boyfriends". Case attended art and design school in Canada before joining some local college bands. After graduating in 1998, Case lost her visa and moved to Seattle. Before this, she provided vocals for the Canadian band The New Pornographers. Neko herself wouldn't see some solo recognition until 2002 with her Blacklisted album. In 2009, her most recent album Middle Cyclone hit #1 on the indie chart. One standout track from that very album is the organ filled, regretful "I'm an Animal".
