016. five - keep on movin'

Keep on Movin'
English 3:18
Europop, Pop
from Keep on Movin' (1999)

As kids, we used to argue over who was better - Backstreet Boys or 'N SYNC.  Yes, we were that stupid.  Five (or as the stylized "5ive") was another flavor in the boy band buffet.  Across the pond was this quintet of young men whose 1997 debut single "Slam Dunk (Da Funk)" went to #10 in the UK.  Back in America, it didn't even crack the top seventy-five on our Billboard Hot 100.  Their follow-up, "When the Lights Go Out", fared much better internationally, but would be their last notable venture in the U.S.A.  "Keep on Movin'", from their Invincible album, features a lighter sound than Five's first album's cuts.  It's acoustic and melodic, and a step away from the suburbia rap facade of songs like "Got the Feelin'".  Five broke up in 2001, and then reunited as a quartet (sans name change) in 2006.  Nothing came of this, though, and Five disbanded again in 2007.  Member Abs had a brief yet successful solo career from 2002-2003.
